#116 STARS OF FREITA
SERRA DA FREITA | 28 May 2022
10 spots left
If you look at the sky on a clear, dark night, away from light pollution, you will see a faint band of light crossing the skies. This is the Milky Way, home to our Solar System. Here there are at least 200 billion other stars (more recent estimates put the figure at around 400 billion) and their planets, thousands of clusters and nebulae, including at least almost all objects in Messier's catalog that are not galaxies ( one could consider two globular clusters as possible exceptions, as they are being, or have recently been, incorporated or imported into our Galaxy, coming from dwarf galaxies that are currently passing through our Milky Way: M54, from the dwarf elliptical galaxy of Sagittarius, and possibly Canis Major dwarf M79. All objects in the Milky Way orbit around a common center of mass, called the Galactic Center.
The Serra da Freita, not being Dark Sky, still makes it possible to obtain good photographic records. In this Workshop, we intend to share with you how to photograph the milky way, helping to define the parameters to be used using the methods of the rule of 500 and/or the NPF.
We will discuss how the use of apps for smartphones can help to plan this type of photography, using Photopills.
We will also have the opportunity to do a star trail.

His first serious machine was an analog Minolta, acquired in 1992, which still holds religiously. With the transition to digital the passion grew, it was systematically evolving and combining photography with his other passion, travels. With 29 countries in his curriculum, he combines his experience of traveling and photography, mastering not only the technical aspects of photography, but also the logistical aspects of travel. During his travels he absorbed several knowledge of other international photographers with whom he shared great photographic moments, namely in Iceland and Scotland, countries that he choose as dream destinations for any landscape photographer.
His passion for photography started in the late 90s, with a Pentax film camera, and he had the first digital camera in 2001 a Sony. More recently, he rediscovered his passion for landscape photography. Through his photographic trips, he had the opportunity to photograph several European countries in different scenarios and seasons, improving his technique, even in the most demanding environments. In 2020 he joined the team of photographic leaders at Photo Details Workshops.
